BOOKING NOW: ADVANCED BPA TRAINING 20-24 OCTOBER 2025

We will be returning to Thames Valley Police Training College, near Reading, in October 2025 to deliver our popular 1-week ADVANCED BPA training course.


allow participants, who have previously attended our LEVEL 2 (Intermediate), a Basic 40-hour BPA Training course (or documented equivalent), to improve their skills and knowledge and attain competency in the independent

analysis of bloodstain patterns at crime scenes and provide subsequent testimony as an expert witness.


It is suitable for Law Enforcement Personnel, Crime Scene Investigators, Forensic Scientists, Laboratory

Practitioners and other individuals aligned with BPA (in the laboratory or at crimes scenes) as part of their

ongoing professional development in BPA.


The training comprises classroom-based presentations to deliver teaching across 5 modules and practical

(wet-room) sessions along with instructor demonstrations, syndicate exercises, mock scenes and

individual practical assessments.


COURSE OUTLINE:

MODULE 1: Review of bloodstain pattern types & Objective Criteria

MODULE 2: Area and origin determination of impact patterns

MODULE 3: BPA as part of a holistic approach to crime scenes

MODULE 4: Documenting bloodstain patterns

MODULE 5: Gunshot-generated bloodstain patterns

PRACTICAL SESSIONS THROUGHOUT INCLUDING EXAMINATION OF SIMULATED CRIME SCENE SCENARIOS

The course meets the educational standards as defined by IABPA and OSAC and successful participants are able to apply for industry standard membership of the International Association of Bloodstain Pattern Analysts (IABPA).
