The official definition of a DRIP STAIN is:
"A bloodstain resulting from a falling drop that formed due to gravity"
Whilst drip stains deposited on smooth surfaces are more easily recognisable, when a droplet of blood lands on a textured surface, such as fabric, this can produce complex stains that are more difficult to identify.
