WOMEN IN CRIMINAL LAW: MANCHESTER
We were thrilled to be invited to talk about Bloodstain Pattern Analysis at the recent Women in Criminal Law event hosted by Lincoln House Chambers in Manchester and supported by Millington Hingley Forensic Scientists.
The event brought together legal professionals from across Greater Manchester for an evening of connection, learning and discussion.
It is always important to have conversations with the people who deal with scientific evidence in the court - not only to help them understand the complexities of the discipline, but to build an understanding of how they use our findings so that we can ensure that our reports remain clear and fit for purpose. The evening was very much a two-way street and we are still reflecting on the experience.
We are also still having dreams about the selection of biscuits - because it was seriously impressive!

You only need to read some of the posts on social media to understand how important events like this are - to share knowledge and learn from each other.
Last week I attended a blood spatter pattern (try saying that quickly) analysis workshop ... I had no idea how much fun it was going to be. Despite what Dexter may have led you to believe, blood spatter analysis is slightly more complicated than it looks. One of the things that interested me was that sometimes the absence of spatter can be just as important as the pattern itself. My brain always needs to know why, so if I am going to stand up in court one day and challenge evidence, it is important to me that I understand how that evidence has been interpreted and how the conclusion has been reached.
If you are interested in hosting a similar event, please reach out and we can make it happen.
