For over a decade, Forensics Europe Expo has been one of the most important gatherings for law enforcement & private sector specialists dedicated to all aspects of forensic investigation. This year the event joined with the Blue Light Show and provided a unique opportunity for the emergency services and forensic investigation community to come together and learn, network and investigate newly emerging technology.
Jo Millington delivered the Keynote on the second day of the event and presented the case of Patryk Pachecka and his friend Gregorz Szal who both spent 4 years in prison for a murder they did not commit. The session took a gripping deep dive into how forensic science helped correct a miscarriage of justice and the audience learned how experts, working with the charity Inside Justice, changed the narrative of this wrongful conviction case. It was a fascinating session which challenged perceptions and showcased how forensic evidence played a crucial role in uncovering the truth.
We connected with scenes of crime and forensic specialists, tactical and emergency response professionals as well as initiatives that support the health and wellbeing of people and organisations affiliated with policing. One such organisation was Oscar Kilo, a National Police Wellbeing Service - and they were supported by their team of wellbeing and trauma dogs. Luckily (as every dog owner will appreciate) we had a few spare dog biscuits in our pocket so we could thank them properly for their service! Please check out Oscar Kilo's website. It contains online toolkits and links to other organisations dedicated to building healthy working environments and helping people stay well and thrive in their jobs.
